My Internship Experience At Sesi Technologies – Afua Ansah

Last updated: August 27, 2021

Reminiscing on how I stumbled into Sesi Technologies never ceases to amaze me. A friend recommended the company to me and I took no time in reaching out to them. In this blog post, I will share what my overall internship experience at Sesi Technologies has been like; the challenges I faced and the lessons learned.

Overall Internship Experience

In July 2021, I joined Sesi Technologies as a Product Development Intern. Unknown to me, my internship experience at Sesi Technologies will be a tremendously rewarding and insightful experience with the company. One that will stay with me for a long time to come.

When I look back, I am thrilled to have walked into a start-up committed to improving the lives of African farmers. A start-up that leverages technology and innovation to enhance agricultural productivity and curtail post-harvest losses in Ghana.

Challenges

My internship offered me exposure to the world of working with Arduino. Where I designed Arduino sketches, prototyping, building circuits, and printed circuit boards. However, I realized it can be fraught with frustration sometimes but requires resourcefulness and grit to thrive.

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform. It allows users to build scientific instruments, prototypes, installations, write programs, and many other things. At Sesi Technologies it is used to develop the GrainMate Moisture Meter.

Lessons and Conclusion

At the end of it all, I am proud of the skills I have successfully honed. I am also excited that I could contribute to the tasks and responsibilities the staff juggle around the clock. And I have learned not to lose courage in the face of insurmountable challenges but to be emboldened by them!

I am thankful to have been part of the warm, driven community at Sesi Technologies. As an Electrical and Computer Engineering student, it meant so much to me to translate engineering knowledge and skills tangibly in relevant and useful ways.
