Sesi Technologies is proud to announce that we have been selected as a winner of the YEGRO Youth Entrepreneurship Award for our project aimed at helping young people bring precision agriculture directly to smallholder farmers.

For many farmers in Ghana and across Africa, knowing what is happening beneath their soil is often a matter of guesswork. Traditional soil testing services are far away, too expensive, or simply out of reach. This leads to poor yields, wasted inputs, and soil that becomes less productive over time.

Our team at Sesi Technologies has been working hard to change that. With our FarmSense technology, a simple, portable soil testing device powered by machine learning, we’re helping farmers understand exactly what their soil needs so they can make better decisions and improve their harvests.

What the YEGRO Award Means for Us

Thanks to the YEGRO Award, we will be able to bring this service even closer to the people who need it most. Over the next few months, we’ll be:

• Setting up two Rapid Soil Test Centers in the Ashanti Region. 
• Training and supporting 50 young people to become certified soil test agents.
• Reaching and educating over 10,000 farmers on why soil testing matters and how it can transform their farms. 

These young people, many of whom come from the same communities, will serve and will be well equipped with FarmSense tools and the skills to offer soil testing services both in-center and directly on farms. They will earn income by providing these services while helping farmers boost their yields.

A Future Built on Better Soil Decisions

Through this project, thousands of smallholder farmers will gain access to soil testing for the very first time. They will receive clear, personalized fertilizer recommendations that help them use inputs more wisely, save money, and increase their harvests.

At the same time, young people will gain practical agronomic skills, digital literacy, and a pathway to becoming entrepreneurs in their own communities.
